Ditch the "ALL OR NOTHING" Mindset

fitness tips Jan 22, 2020

If you got a flat tire on one tire, would you slash the other three?

Probably not! You'd get that one tire fixed and keep on driving right? So why do we find ourselves saying things like,

"Oh I already ruined my nutrition for the day by eating donuts for breakfast so I'll just have pizza for lunch."

"Ugh I missed my Monday workout so I'll start next week."

"I'm already going to be off at dinner tonight so might as well not count today."

Health and fitness DOES NOT have to be all or nothing!

It's okay to miss a workout, then get right back on track the next day. You can have a treat for breakfast or dinner, but keep the rest of the day balanced. Life in general including health and fitness isn't about doing it all or nothing at all.

It's about PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION!!!

Instead of falling into that pitfall, focus on making small changes that will create life long healthy habits.

Instead of hitting the drive thru for dinner, spend time in the kitchen on Sunday prepping meals that you can grab and eat on the go.

Instead of spending hours at the gym, find short, intense workouts you can do in under 30 minutes.

Instead of hitting up the snack bar at your kids game, pack a snack bag that you can keep in the car or your purse filled with healthy snacks.

Instead of reaching for sugar or caffeine to get you through your afternoon slump, head outside for a quick walk in some fresh air for a reboot.

Instead of 5,000 steps a day, aim for 8,000 steps by parking further away in a parking lot or taking the stairs.

Success is small daily improvements that add up to big changes! Ditch the all or nothing mindset and focus on making small changes to benefit you now and later!
