Protein breakfast ideas

breakfast high protein protein weight loss Sep 21, 2022

Did you know protein is an essential macronutrient?

Yep which means that you're body CANNOT survive without it. Not only does it help to build and repair muscles, but protein is the building block of organs, muscles, skin, nails, and hormones.

Most people are not eating enough protein to support their lifestyle or goals. While the daily recommended intake for protein is .36g per pound of body weight, this is the DRI for a SEDENTARY adult. Meaning this is how much protein you need to just lie in bed and function. NOT how much protein you need to move around daily, exercise, build muscle, shed fat and reach specific health goals.

One way I like to help my clients to get in more protein, is to suggest upping their protein intake at breakfast. Starting the day with a high protein meal will not only help you to get in more protein throughout the day, but it can help to satiate you and keep you full longer so you're not reaching for a snack shortly after your meal.

Most people think of eggs when they think of protein packed breakfasts but there are lots of other options for a protein packed breakfast!

- overnight or warm protein oatmeal
- smoked salmon and avocado toast
- protein muffins
- chia seed pudding
- greek yogurt
- cottage cheese
- protein smoothie
- protein pancakes or waffles
- left overs from dinner (don't knock it till you try it!)
